Monitoring your phone’s usage is a very important task that usually requires the user to log into their cellular provider’s website in order to check their current usage. Conveniently, the App Store has many apps that can help you do this in real time without the need to access a website.
We recommend Tangoe rTEM; an app that simultaneously tracks your voice (phone call) minutes as well as your cellular data.
Using Tangoe rTEM
- After entering the app, you are presented with the ‘Setup‘ screen.
- Select ‘Wi-Fi‘ from this list. This is the Wi-Fi setup page. Use this if you want to allot a specific amount of Wi-Fi data to your phone.
- Name: Give your plan a name.
- Combined Up/Down: This ON/OFF switch combines your uploaded and downloaded data into a total. Unless you’d prefer in depth detail about your uploaded data, leave this switch ON.
- Start Date: This determines your bill’s start date.
- Interval: This determines how often your data is reset to match your plan.
- Combined Limit: This allows you to set the total amount of data allotted by your plan.
- Thresholds: See Step 4.
- Return to the ‘Setup‘ page and select the ‘Cellular’ option. This is the Cellular Data setup page.
- Name: Give your plan a name.
- Combined Up/Down: This ON/OFF switch combines your uploaded and downloaded data into a total. Unless you’d prefer in depth detail about your uploaded data, leave this switch ON.

- Plan Minutes: This setting allows you to set the amount of phone call minutes your plan allows for.
- Minutes Calculation: This setting allows you to monitor your minutes in various intervals (seconds, minutes, etc.).
- Whether setting Thresholds for Wi-Fi or for Cellular Data, these settings provide the app with the ability to notify you when your data usage reaches a certain percentage of use.
- From the bottom bar, select ‘Details.‘ This page displays useful information about all of your usage. Use this page to monitor how much data you use and how many minutes are left in your phone plan.
