Microsoft Teams is a chat-based collaborative workspace that brings together people, content and conversations. Office applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote are connected to Teams, similar to Slack.
1. How to get Teams
Microsoft Teams, like all the other Microsoft Office 365 applications, can be accessed directly from your Chrome or Edge browser or through the Desktop or Mobile app.
Select your preferred method to access Teams to learn how you can get Teams:
1.1 Web Browser
Microsoft Teams, like all the other Microsoft Office 365 applications, can be accessed directly from your Chrome or Edge browser without the need to download additional applications.
Step 1:
It is strongly recommended that you access Teams from a Chrome or Edge browser as any other browser might experience issues or offer limited compatibility with multiple Teams features.

Step 2:
Login to portal.office.com using your Bishop's email and password.

Step 3:
Once inside the portal, select the Teams icon to access it.
A new tab will open, you can now use Teams to communicate and collaborate with the other Bishop's members directly from your web browser.

Installing the web app on your desktop:
Tired of always opening your browser to use Teams?
The steps bellow will guide you through the process to install the web version directly on your desktop and allow you to access it as you would the desktop application.
Step 1:
From your Chrome browser select the (+) that appears at the end of your address bar and select "Install".
You can also install it from the Chrome menu/vertical ellipsis and select "Install Microsoft Teams..."
If you do not see the (+) or the "Install Microsoft Teams..." option in the Chrome menu, follow the instruction bellow. Otherwise, go to Step 3

If you do not see the (+) install options:
From the Chrome menu/vertical ellipsis select "More Tools" and "Create shortcut..."

Step 2:
Create a name for your Teams web application and make sure to select the box "Open as window". Once this is done, select "Create"

Step 3:
You can now access the web version of Teams directly from your browser. Simply open it from the Teams icon on your desktop.

1.2 Desktop Application
Note: The Microsoft Teams desktop application can be troublesome on outdated computers. If you are not running Windows10 or your computer is outdated and runs slow, you should consider using the web version.

Step 1:
Login to portal.office.com using your Bishop's email and password.

Step 2:
Once inside the portal, select the Teams icon to access it.
A new tab will open, simply click on the download symbol found in the bottom left of your Teams page to start downloading the desktop application installer.
Once the download completed, click the downloaded file to start installing the desktop application.You can now close your browser and wait for the installation to finish.

Step 3:
Once the desktop application installed, Teams should open. If it does not open on its own, locate the Teams icon on your desktop.

Step 4:
Login using your Bishop's email and password.

1.3 Mobile Device
If you want to stay in touch with your Teams contacts and collaborate on the go, you can install the mobile application.
