How to Setup a Wired Connection in Residences
Please note: do NOT unplug the residence phones from the wall.
Step 1:
Get an Ethernet cable and the appropriate adapter for your device if needed. If you need an Ethernet cable, one can be purchased from Paterson Front desk for $5.00.
Step 2:
Locate the residence phone inside your room and turn it upside down
Step 3:
Plug the Ethernet cable into the port that says COMPUTER
Step 4 (Windows):
- Click on the internet icon
- Make sure it says either “Bishops.ca” or “Network,” and it says “Connected” below
Step 4 (macOS):
- Go to System Preferences (you can access this by clicking on the (Apple) icon at the very upper left corner of your screen and then click on “System Preferences”)
- Click on Network
- Make sure the Ethernet tab has a green circle and says “Connected” below
- Click on the Wi-Fi tab and click on “Turn Wi-Fi off”
