Setting up an email as IMAP on Outlook

IMAP provides a simple way to synchronize emails on devices using the Outlook program that is included in the Microsoft Office suite. Please note, IMAP does not sync your calendar or contact information. This can be used for sending more complex emails, for example performing an email-merge, which cannot be done using Webmail. Unless one of these advanced email features is required, we recommend using Webmail in a browser, as this will accomplish most email tasks, as well as providing access to calendars and contacts.

Step 1: Select File.

Step 2: Under “Info” select Add Account.

Step 3: Select Manually configure server settings or additional server types.

Step 4: Select Internet E-mail.

Step 5: Fill out the form as indicated in the image. Where “Your Name” (1), “E-mail Address” (2), “User Name” (6) and “Password” (7) are indicated, enter your Bishop’s information (ex. Joe Smith, jsmith@ubishops.ca, “jsmith”).

Step 6: Click More Settings .

Step 7: Go to the Advanced tab and make sure the sections are filled out as indicated.

Step 8: Go to the Outgoing server tab and check the top box as indicated.

Step 9: Click Ok.

Step 10: Click Yes when the “Internet Security Warning” window pops up.
