How to Teach a Hybrid Class in LLC 106

Please Note: Classroom info for Faculty is now accessible through the Technology Resources for Faculty Moodle page. All Faculty automatically have access to this course and you can follow this link to access it.

This tutorial page contains a series of videos to demonstrate how you can you the technology in LLC 106 to teach online and in person students simultaneously.

Setting Up LLC 106

Watch this video for a demonstration of the set up process:

Step 1:
On the Crestron panel, navigate to the Camera tab. Press the green “Start” button. This will turn on the Confidence Monitor on the back wall of the classroom.

Step 2:
On the Mac, Log in to Teams. Locate your class and start a class meeting. The students on the call will see the same feed that is displayed on the confidence monitor.

Step 3:
Choose Camera 2 as the current display using the Crestron panel. Choose a camera preset based on what you want your students to see.

Note: Alternatively, you can control the camera angle and zoom using the arrows on the touch panel. This will not be saved upon selecting another preset.

Step 4:
If you want your class Teams call to be displayed in the classroom, navigate to the Source 2 tab and select the Mac as the input and the TVs you wish to display Teams on as the output (standard is 3, 4 and 8).

Step 5:
If you would like to be able to hear your students in the Teams call, navigate to the TV Input tab and ensure that the TV volume is not muted

Note: The more TVs you are using, the louder the sound will be in the room. TV volume affects all the TVs at once

 

 

Using the Zoomed Camera View

Step 1:
Using the Crestron panel at the front of the classroom, under Source 1 choose Professor --- Computer as the input and Projector as the output

Step 2:
Under the capture tab, select a preset which adequately shows the projector screen. The students connecting online should now be able to see the presentation.

 

 

Presenting Content on Teams

Watch this video for a demonstration of the process:

Step 1:
On the classroom computer, log in to Teams. In Teams, navigate to device settings and set the speaker to “Crestron” and mute the volume.

Step 2:
Sign into Teams and join the call for your class. When you join, be sure to mute the microphone and turn off the camera.

Step 3:
Share your presentation by clicking the “Share Tray” button (next to the three dots) and selecting the content you wish to share (exp. Powerpoint or full screen)

Step 4:
Enter full screen and teach your class as normal, accessing your content through Teams

 

 

Using the Video Switcher for Bluray

Watch this video for a demonstration of the process:

Step 1:
In the back room, change the Black Magic panel to 4 as the current presentation.

Note: Please call the Helpdesk for help with this step.

Step 2:
On the Crestron panel, set Source 1 to your desired method of input and Video Switcher and projector as your output.

Step 3:
Your content will now be displayed on both the Teams call and the Projector
